Mike Huckabee’s Presidential Run – Past and Future?
Earlier today, I passed a link on Twitter and Facebook from a fellow blogger who wrote a well written piece on why he thought Mike Huckabee’s political career is over. Along with the link, I asked if anyone though his career in politics really is finished. In one of my responses from a friend on Facebook, I replied with the following.

A poll on CNN’s “Situation Room” earlier this week showed Huckabee was the most favorable Republican presidential candidate hopeful for 2012 (prior to the Maurice Clemmons situation), with Palin not too far behind. I forget the overall numbers, but Pawlenty was at the bottom at 5%. I think he has potential to be a serious contender in the next primary if he indeed chooses to run. He just isn’t well known yet, and he himself is not well liked by all Republicans.
Disagree with your assessment regarding Huck’s 2008 run and future. He was relatively unknown to the masses for 2008, and not well liked by everyone from his base. He is building himself up and becoming more of a household name, primarily through his weekend Fox News show and his Huckabee Reports heard on various ABC Radio/Citadel stations across the country. A party’s base isn’t what wins elections anyways. Huckabee may not totally appeal to the right, but he could be a favorable guy as far as independents go. If people from his party realize that and think he could be attractive to independents, they’ll warm up to him quickly.
Not sure if I buy that his career is over though. It looks bad now, but people have short memories, even if the attack ads reminding people are relentless. He is personable and witty enough to get people to like him – though such qualities don’t necessarily make great qualifications alone for the Presidency of the United States.
